Some people are just crazy...

Post by Imprezive »

So today, as I was heading home from school, (I live in a hilly, mountain-like region) I stop at a stop sign just outside of town and an old Honda Accord comes up behind me, it must have been an 89' or so. Anyways, as I pull from the stop sign and after a few turns I happened to glance in my mirror and notice the guy riding my a$$. So I kick it down into second and give it a little gas to pull away from him over the upcoming left hander that crests a hill and comes down the other side. As I pull away I come up on 2 other cars (one being a 00' OB and one being a Lexus IS350)

I was hardly caught up to the 2 cars in front of me when the guy in the 89' accord behind me passes me (on a double solid yellow) right before a blind downhill lefthander. At that point I shrugged it off and just kept driving. But soon after he passes the Lexus and pulls in behind the Outback. Also before a blind corner!! After that he proceeds to pass the Subaru and pull away....

 describes how I felt. I cannot stand people like that. People that endanger the lives of fellow motorists just to show off and boost their EGO. I hate it! I don't think I'll ever cross the yellow centerline unless its an emergency.   (a couple more for good measure)

When you mentioned downshifting to second, I thought for a moment you were doing something I usually do if tapping the brake doesn't work. But then you mentioned giving it gas to pull away.

Ive had a favourite trick of late.

People will come rocketing up behind me late at night, get frustrated with my refusal to do more than 20 over the limit, and flick on the brights.

After a moment of this, I'll pull over and let them pass. They zoom off, I catch up in a hurry and give them both Hella's and my brights.

Im not sure exactly what it looks like, but it must be something akin to driving around with the sun in your rearview mirror.

Needless to say, they pull over and give me a bit of room from then on.

Its not that I dont like people driving fast, I just dont like them trying to bully other drivers.

Passing on double yellow is one thing I refuse to do. I don't care how slow the person is going, I will not pass on doulbe yellow. And it really perturbs me when I'm going 10-15 over and I get passed on double yellow. I mean, come on, are you in that much of a hurry that you absolutely have to pass? Isn't 10-15 over fast enough? Jeez...

I used to pass over the double yellow, until I realized how stupid it is to do so. Dumb dumb dumb dumb. It's just not worth it to put yourself and others in danger like that just to get somewhere a bit faster.

Even when I passed over the double yellow, it was NEVER before a blind curve. Long after I realized how stupid it was, a friend got hit head-on by someone who passed over the double-yellow around a blind curve. Both cars were totalled; luckily my friend and his passenger were okay.
