A n00b question about pics

Post by Imprezive »

hey, bare with me guys, I am kinda retarded... How exactly do I go about posting pictures of my car on here? I am gonna go for a little photo shoot tomorrow I think.

I think you need to have a host or something?? Can anyone give me a good website that can host them?

I have some space I'm not using. You can link to pictures, but the settings prevent them from being called into a page being loaded from a different server.

Photobucket.com has free hosting that works pretty well. Designed specifically to display pictures directly instead of having to link to the other page.

the easiest way is some sort of a free online host. I have school hosting and my own webspace that I pay for, but for the most part I use imageshack.us.

The nice thing about imageshack is that there are a bunch of neat little add-ins like the transload firefox extension. If I see a picture online that I want to put up somewhere (leeching is bad), I can right click and select "upload to imageshack." Then it automatically hosts it and provides me with a variety of code so I can either post a thumbnail or the direct image depending on size. When you sign up (free), imageshack will also save the images you've uploaded.

Speaking of size, you'll probably also want to resize the pictures you took. You can do this in gimp and photoshop etc, and I prefer the windows powertoys image resizer. Then you can just right click on the photos you want to resize in explorer and a little menu pops up. This way you don't have to open some program and then open all the images you want to resize.

You're not retarded, but after more than 3/4 of a year of membership, you still haven't read through the threads in the "Stuff You Need to Know" forums!

There's one particularly generous board member, THAWA, who has set up an online photo gallery for us to upload our pictures to for use on the BBS.

Thanks for the help guys! I guess I could go skim that forum

I've got a sketchy online photo hosting site (www.driftsub.com) but I think I'll go with jamal's suggestion, sounds dandy.

BBcode is what phpBB uses. It's not that hard to learn, and not very different.

and for good reason. It's never fun when someone put in some sort of nasty code that shows huge puctures or animations or redirects or something.
