A vs spring/strut battle.

Post by carguy327 »

To instantly improve my '93 turbo wagon's handling, I'll be changing the 188,000kms-old struts and springs.

I want to lower but not 1 and 3/4", maybe 3/4" to 1"

Should I go lowered spring or coil over?

And the struts..

semi-used GC8 Impreza RS struts ( seems to be abundantly available. They fit right? )
or new
KYB GR2's

Thanks for any info

Where to buy in TO

Post by carguy327 »

that's what I thought ..thanks Ciper.

Considering I've only been back in Ontario for only 2 months (11 years in BC) I don't know where to get the best deal on these items.

So far I can only find Gabriel and Monroe .

Thanks for any help

Is there a reason people are choosing the GR2's over the AGX's?

The GR2s are significantly cheaper and work quite well. From what I understand, the GR2s are basically non-adjustable AGXes, set at the most commonly-used settings. Some people actually prefer having fewer things to adjust. (The thinking goes along the lines of "Everything you can control is rope; you can do lots of useful things with rope, but with enough of it you can hang yourself.")

Would the AGX's I ordered be better than the GR2's, if I have a setting for daily driving(comfort) and one for track though? :?

The AGX's are simply the racer's version of the GR2s. :D

Yes, the AGXes would be preferable if you want to be able to switch between "race day" and "hot date" modes. =)

However, for some people that would involve the same dampener setting. ;)

Gerald,

If you are interested in a deal, head over to the toronto subaru club at

http://www.toronto-subaru-club.com and pm a guy called rex555 I think - he carries them, infact he usually has them in stock.

Let me know if you need further assistance/installation help.

Hope this helps.
