92 ss brakes are the same diameter, but vented. This makes them wider so they won't fit in your calipers..

PS: Search.

Yeah, from what I understand Subaru has really only produced four main rear rotors (STi aside and pre 06'). All old NA's and current RS's, WRX's, Impreza's, etc. use the 10.5" diameter rotor but it's solid. Though they may use a different caliper - larger piston. The next best step up is the 91-94 SS who is 10.5" but vented. You need the corresponding caliper to accept the width of these. One the same page as these are the H6's that are larger, 11.3 I believe (?), but they are solid. Finally there is the 05 LGT which is an 11.3, or 11.7?, but they are vented. These mark the highest performance rear (STi aside) that Subaru has put out.

If you're wanting a step up from the 95L brakes you have but don't want to get new rotors, track down some old Wagon rear calipers as they have a larger piston than the NA sedan, or atleast for for 90-94 and I'd guess your's too.

And, ooo, burned with the search stick ;).

as much as i like burning n00b's with the search stick ive found the search function on this site rather, useless if you dont mind me saying. i can never find the info i need even if i search for what i typed in pretty close to exact words.

thanks for all your help though.

are the 05 lgt brakes even better than the jdm/06 tr rear 2 pots?

also i just needed to know if i had to swap the calipers or not as i have both cars (92ss and 95 L impreza) up on jackstands doing a full swap on suspension ect.

Yeah sometimes it can be picky... :-/

I'm not sure if they are better than the JDM/06 tr rear 2 pots. My guess is they are on par and you can find 2 pot calipers that would fit the LGT's if they aren't already. Maybe someone else can fill in the blanks?

The simple answer to your question then - yes, turbo rotors need turbo calipers.
