Black?

Leave it be, let the rust overtake your roof and eventually cause leaks, damaging your interior

Repair the rust, but paint the top silver to match the car, you could probably get sort of close

Go for it, probably won't look that bad, and it'll be interesting to say the least

Lol, So I'm thinking of doing the unthinkable

Post by LaureltheQueen »

Recently, there's been a little spot of ever-expanding rust that's shown up under one of the roof rails that sits directly against the roof on the tw. I'm considering removing all of them(because they're fucking useless and water puddles under them after a bath) and sanding out the rust, plugging the holes, and painting the roof black. It's a hell of a lot easier to match a color that isn't anywhere else on the car, and after I get my windows tinted(definitely before I attempt any of this body work shit), it'll unify the top of the car(hopefully.) My roommate worked in a body shop for a few years and has some experience in the field. He could probably spray the roof and make everything look purdy.

I just want to make it incredibly clear that I in no way claim to have any sense of taste

Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

The Turbo Talon's had black roofs, and they looked cool.

I'd probably do it.

I saw a 300C that was black with a brushed Aluminum roof. Thing looked like it was a gangster car.

That made me think of Talons too.

I say go ahead and spray it black. You can always respray it silver sometime in the future if you decide it's something you need.

Black roofs are fine, and may even make the car look better than it was stock. The Audi A3, with sunroofs, has a black roof (at least in red), and it looks fine.

Any suggestions on the roof rack? Should I try painting it, or just remove it completely. It is pretty useful sometimes. Maybe I'll just hit it, minus the crossbars with one of those spray on bedliners

do you do photoshop at all? maybe draw it in on photoshop to get a better idea of what it will look like.
personally, I would try and fix the rust then spray some silver as best you could but its your car.

Yeah, paint it black. You can always change it later and it will probably look pretty cool and add to the originality of the car.

ha, I'd have to be mad! Very few things short of something totalling the bodywork of that car would even make me consider getting rid of that piece of sex I drive every day.

Flat black dries fast so it can be done outside and still look good ... well, as good as flat black will look. A gloss or semi-gloss would look decent.

There's a pretty new Buick whateverthefuck around here that's black with a silver roof and it makes the car actually look cool.

For the record, it was 'cool' not 'good'.

Black would be tits.

I've always wanted to spray an entire vehicle in that Rhino Lining bedliner stuff. No worrying about anything body-related ever again. Shit, you could ride rails around corners if you wanted :)
