clutches have resistance because you're moving more than a cable attached to an accelerator. give the brakes a few pumps with the car off, then try to mash them to the floor. they're hard as hell too.

you'll get used to the clutch, I believe you've got a cable clutch, so you're feel the full resistance of the pressure plate against the clutch pedal. The spring pressure on the pressure plate is only 1200lbs.clos36 wrote:ok i will try that
my aunt has had this car since 93 and she hasnt really used it alot...so i was thinking the clutch might be old or it needs a change..but i will try the excercises
as a comparison, stock clutches on a hydraulic clutch car are usually in the 2100lb range for pressure plate pressure. On a cable clutch car they'd be alot harder to push in.
I like personal abuse, so I may do it myself. but yeah, you'll get used to the clutch in no time.

You must be used to Toyotas or something where you can tap the clutch with your toe and have it hit the firewall. Drive an old muscle car and this thing will feel like Sunday through Saturday.
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
the thing is the car has not been used alot and it seems like the clutch hasnt had any work it feels stiff....i just wanted to know if something was wrong with it...
the thing is i fractured my leg and ever since that its harder for me to drive specially stick shift..but thats what i like to drive stick shift
but i hope it lightens up a lil

You'll have to give us something to go by.
I am willing to bet that a stiff pedal feel to you, is MUCH different than a stiff pedal feel to me, or to anyone else.
Find a bathroom scale. Press your clutch pedal with your foot. Try to approximate in pounds how stiff it is by pushing your foot on the bathroom scale.
That'll give us a quantified starting point. Stiff to you could be normal stock behavior because of your injury.
Personally, I can't stand a light pedal feel.

I can't either, because if it's light you feel like you ride it more. I used to think my pedal was stiff as hell when I first started driving it, now I stand on it at redlights for short periods and don't even notice it.BAC5.2 wrote:You'll have to give us something to go by.

Looking forward to get a stiffer pressure plate. To me, a clutch is an item that you need FORCE to operate, and i like it. beefs up that leff calf muscle.

My Foxbox has a cable clutch. The Lee is hydraulic. Everytime I switch cars I look like a retard for a block or two until I get the feel again. Although the Fox is a little better since I replaced the cable, I still damn near put my foot through the floor when I switch back to the Lee.

If your cable clutch is that stiff, the cable probably just needs replacing.
My car had a hard clutch when I first got it, and about 6 months later, I had the cable replaced, and I'd actually like it to be a little stiffer, as it's a bit too soft.
Or maybe I was just a really big puss when I first got the car
