Tranny Mount options for FWD
Hey my co-worker has a 92 L FWD 5spd that i just recently put groupie n motor mounts on. I had picked up a tranny mount too thinking the AWD would be the same as FWD but alas it is not. Just called subaru thinking the regular part would be cheaper than a group n but its $135. Im wondering if there are any other options to fix a totaly bad rear tranny mount without paying $60 more.

I think the issue is one of demand -- a lot more people buy upgrade AWD mounts than OEM FWD mounts.
Maybe you could cut out most of the rubber of the existing mount and replace it with urethane casting compound or 3M Windo-Weld.

any suggestions of how to ensure proper distance between the 2 while casting? Currently it is more or less 2 peices with little to no support of the rubber. When i took the 2 bottom nuts off to do the engine mounts the subframe to rubber piece simply fell out. Should i just eye it/measure it what it should be mounted and go at it?
Thanks for the quick, informational replies too

Hm. I didn't realize the rubber was completely detached.
Maybe another board member can get you an intact FWD mount. Maybe you could post in the Parts Shed and ask.
While you might be able to get away with eyeballing it, I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you're filling it with a material that's less compliant than the stock rubber.

I've got a brand new FWD AT mount, but it's different then the MT mount.
Don't bother with the window weld. It doesn't work....tried it.
