we have just got this
1990 SUBARU LEGACY L AWD
Engine: 2.2L H4 MFI/FI
We had it for about 3 weeks or so this week.
Its driving great but for a fuel sensor that want to drop the gauge to zero after a day on fillup but we afre keeping an eye on the trip meter as we drive.
We did the math tonight after having the wagon for this time and with 260+ mile on the trip meter we put in around 12+ gal and the tank is suppost to be 15 gal tank by what the book saids. Which means we had another 30 to 40 miles left(Plus or minus).
With the gauge acting up the Trip meter is going to help us gauge fill ups as my lst fill up just be fore was 10 gal but hte gauge said we were lower.. I think one of the two fuel sensors but I can't sem to find the access panals to check them.
On our next fill up we will be using a fuel stabilizer called Freedom Fuel Additive that really did great on our last car..well truck it took from 23 mpg to around 27 which is great for a truck. I'll let everyone know how it works.
Having cruse comtrol works well in saving fuel on long trip but in stop and go..
it works by stabilizer the fuel it help you from hitting the gas more than you would it let the fuel burn better and cleaner from what I am told.
It worked well before and with over 169K on the engin it worth a try.

here a interesting fuel mailes we just filled up after putting 286 mile on the wagon and it said we just nearly did 23 mpg.(22.78)
now all i did was keep a better eye on the tac and left the fuel gauge as is not really working. the othre is that last time my wife put in 12.515 gal this time it was 12.625 and we figure we put about 19 mile more on the wagon than lat fill up.
this time we added the Freedom fuel addtive to see aht happens.
will post next fill up.

90 Legacy N/A FWD auto -- 292k miles
I lolligagged my last tank of gas (highway and city) and I managed to squeeze 31mpg out of it. By lolligag i mean not foot to the floor and ramming through the gears, but still fairly 'spirited'
Normally I get right around 25mpg

tonight we got on the freeway and I took the GPS out and took reading of true sped and all as i was feel we wre a bit of and found i was right as to that we run about 3 to 4 mph off. this ok but I like to know why as we checked the tire all is right with them. so I think cable.
I hope we can get 23 to 25 as I think the avg is 26 for most of the Legacy wagons 1990 to 1993-5.
it price we pay for have a good AWD system.

well we filled up the other day and we got more out this time too.
did around 280-90 miles and this time we only put in 11.6+ gal and we figure we got around 24 to 25 per this time and saved around $3.30 at the pump. the one thing I am noting we are getting better mileage as we go and with price not going down I'm happy that its not going down.
I keep you post and up date full # on the miles later but i thought I was worth posting.

Great mPG but are you manual or Auto? manual get better MPg always. but I just never leant to use a stick and i had people that are pro racers try to teach me and they gave up. Having n AWD wagon/car dose make MPG a problem but it is better than some.
I want to see the best we can do and keep the wagon going for a go long time as many here have. we had a beater of a truck(a mazda b2000) that was manual and my wife drove it till we just couldn't and it got good milage and even better after we added the fuel additive but it drove like a tank no power anything but it ran.(still dose but need an engin overhal)
the wife love the wagon and want it to be able to drive from Sac to L.A. with no problems and I do too.
