Anyone want my 1992 Legacy?

Post by Ogre »

I like my Subaru... it's fast and comfy... very agile...
It's an 4WD AT... The Vin shows an "X_N96" and if I decoded that right, means it's 4WD with an autostick.

Search out my posts about this car's quirks. Power everything. AMFM Cassette.

Like I said, I like it, but it's a small car and I need something bigger. I can't sell it, because I live in a place that has a ludacrous amount of used car joints all over the place and frankly no one out here in farm country is interesting in a Suby. If I didn't need a truck, I'd keep this car.

I need a pickup truck. I'll trade anyone my Legacy for an old pickup truck that runs good. I don't care about the age, milage or appearance (bad paint or no paint is no problem, huge chuncks missing is something else) so much as I am about mechanical reliability. I have returned to school as a Non-Traditional Student, whatever that means. All I know is that I am a full time college student again, who has 5 kids. I can't afford to repair anything to make the truck go or pass safety inspection.

So if you have an old ugly that you were wanting to get rid of, and are wanting another Suby for your collection, email me.
One condition of this offer, you gotta drive the truck out to me, or to near me. I'm in Utah. That's how I know the Truck runs. If you can't even drive it, then it aint mechanically sound.

Bonus if the truck is an extended cab. I still have 5 kids... and a dog.

Is it a big one or a little one? I need something bigger than say a Ford Ranger. Unless the Toyota is 4 wheel drive... then I be interested.

D'OH!

I've talked to a few guys out here with some old trucks for sale.. like a '78 Ford, selling it for 1000 bucks. They were all very interested in trading for a 92 car until I told them it was a Subaru.
For some reason Subarus are persona nongrata out here. I'm in Utah, out in the middle of nowhere and the autoshops out here don't even know how to change the oil on Subarus.

When I was in Detroit they treated my Subaru like it were a Bizzarrini for all the familiarity they had with them. "A what?! We don't have anything for that!" - local car parts idiot ca 1996.

Indeed, we get a lot of snow. Last year, I went through the Utah Winter with it, then after it slowed down (snow fall that is) I went to Richmond, VA. The day after I arrived, a Blizzard hit. The only thing on the roads were Jeeps and other Subarus.

My other car is a 4X4 Jeep Cherokee :P

I have a '84 toyota pickup 4x4 that I'm tring to trade for a subaru awd around here, but there just isn't anything around here. I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The truck is a standard cab, standard bed, the engine has only 13k +/- the truck reads 157k. the cab is in good shape, but the bed is pretty rusted. let me know if you are interested.

Automatic or Stickshift?
And how rusty is rusty? Rusty as in ugly or rusty as in you can see through it?

Wait a sec... I was looking at these things. They are too small. I couldn't use it. For some reason I thought they were bigger than a Ranger, but I was wrong. THey just looked bigger to me because they are jacked up with large wheels.

No one with an old F-150 or something? Oh well. I thought I'd offer it here because of the enthusiasts here and thought I'd give the forum first dibs.

Thanks for the offers for the Toyotas, wish I could get by with one that small... they are pretty decent from what I understand...
I'm sooo not a Truck Guy, when I get a pickup, this will be my first "truck". I'm more of an Audi-Jeep type guy.

Are you thinking of selling it outright or just a trade?

I was going to trade on a car, but I will sell outright if the right offer is made. Let me know if you need any info on it, I may have a few older pics of it if you are interested.

Just a trade. I wouldn't get much for selling it.
It's a salvage title. The AC needs work. The automatic shifter is nekked. Has pushbutton started because the key wont engage anymore.

Other than that it runs strong and fast. You gotta love the looks on the faces of the Honda hottrodders when you blow the paint off their doors.
I don't care how big their tailpipes are, they can't match an AWD 2.2 liter Legacy out of the hole. They just don't have the traction for it.
Fun car. I just need a big pickup truck. If I had money, I'd just buy an old one for 1500 and call it good.
