Road trip & gas....

Post by Legacy777 »

You know....I was considering taking a road trip from Houston to Seattle for the WCSS.....but I did the numbers on gas cost, and it'd be about $800 for gas alone!

Not to mention food, and hotel...assuming I stop, and the possibility of road hazards, etc.

So for the time being I've reconsidered....

Dude. Your mpg must suck. I get 22-23 putting around town. And at prices, it's 42.50 a tank. That's for 317 miles.

At $800, you must be talking there and back...

TX to OR for a Legacy meet would have to be a new distance record.

That's an expensive road trip.

It didn't cost near that much to get my white SS across the country from FL to NV (maybe $300-400 tops).

It cost a bit more than that to get my 24' box truck towing my silver SS on a trailer across the country (~$1500 in gas, avg 5mpg)

I towed a car from Ohio to Maryland. Drove there with a trailer and back.

Cost me about $300 in diesel for an F350 Super Duty (dualie) that was getting like 11mpg on the way back. Damn truck ended up being about a hundred bucks a tank.

But then again, gas prices have gone up.

some guys fly down from alaska every year for the show, and there's several people that drive from nevada. But they have like ea82s, so get pretty good mileage

Yeah....it's round trip.....

I might have over-estimated a little, but it'd still be cheaper to fly.
