Shipping a car?

Post by thefultonhow »

The Infiniti G20 that I was going to keep as a project threw a rod while my brother was driving it on April 30. He drove it for several miles instead of pulling over right away, so there's fairly comprehensive bottom-end damage to the engine. I would replace the engine myself, but I don't really have the money and there's plenty of other stuff wrong with the car (it has 170k on it). I was going to part it out, but it's technically my mom's car and she doesn't really want to. So I've been trying to sell it.

Obviously, there's not much of a market for cars with broken engines, but I have received an offer from someone on Long Island. The car is in Baltimore, and considering the fact that it won't even start, it would need to be towed/trailered to Long Island.

The guy is looking for a cheap shiiping option (cheap cars aren't much good if the shipping costs a lot). Does anyone know of any good options? The guy offered $300 for the car, so that should give you some idea of how much he wants to pay for shipping.

Keep in mind this is FWD, not AWD, so two wheels can rest on the ground.

LOL, I wish... to be fair though, he's just learning to drive (has his learner's right now) and the lifters were already wearing out on that engine before he started, so he's not intimately familiar with what the engine should sound like.

post an ad on craigslist, describing that you need a car towed, it has a blown motor. in the ad list a general area from, and to.

I did this when i bought Jstru92 car, and within a day, i had a person contact me, we talked on the phone, worked out the price, details, and time, and i had the car here in 3 days time, for a decent price. CRAIGSLIST rules.
