Family needs a new car

Post by LegacyPunk »

Sooo the mini van busted a piston, and now its time for my parents to buy a new used car.

Im pushing for them to go subaru, mostly cause of reliability, and I can fix stuff on it. Ther're looking for something no more than $6000 really.

Anybody know how well the older foresters hold up?? probably something with 100,000 miles on it for the price.

Any other recomendations??

unless they have already blown and been replaced with MLS gaskets.
for a family car, maybe a minivan? something like an older toyota sienna. just depends on what you need; awd wagon forester, less space more traction in bad weather or minivan, more interior space great for roadtrips, kid stuff etc. prolly about 23mpg either way.

My mom wants a small suv type, possibly an outback, she doesn't like being too low to the ground for some reason.
