Umm... Is this supposed to happen?

Post by Bosco »

I popped out my ball-joint to see if it was okay. when I did, this happened...
I didn't think it was supposed to be able to do that.

It goes "clack clack" if i move the cv shaft back and forth too. it doesn't seem like the cv assembly is bad at all. the "clack clack" seems to come from within the differential.

Um... That's bad... right? Image

It can happen. Shove/hammer it back into the diff and hopefully the clip will still be on the end of it, otherwise you need to drain the diff and hope it comes out, or you might have to take the diff off and find it.

Thanks THAWA, I did shove it back in.
How am I supposed to know if the clip is still on it or not?

Try more gently pulling it out again. If it doesn't pull out the clip is probably in place. If it pulls out easily, then the clip probably came off.
