Phase 1 to Phase 2 EJ25 Intake manifold adapter?

Post by sammydafish »

Does anyone make one? I'm in the process of building one right now. Since all the sensors and everything are on the intake, and adapter would alow people who have a Phase 1 engine replace it with a phase 2 engine without modifying anything. Just swap the long block in and mount the intake with the manifold adapters and you're good to go. The upside is you get higher compression, so better power and economy, and a more reliable engine without head gasket issues (the reason I'm doing the swap right now and hence need the adapters).

Anyway, like I said, I'm building one right now, but I'm wondering if anyone already makes one and I might be wasting my time.

Are you talking about for a phase II Ej22? Those have the same bolt pattern already. But they are single port exhaust.

If you are talking about a SOHC Ej25, just beware that they blow HG just as much as the phase II Ej25's...

I'm talking about adapting the intake manifold of a 96-99 DOHC EJ25 to a 2000+ SOHC EJ25 long block. Alowing you to put the 2000+ SOHC EJ25 into a 96-99 car without any other modifications (you might have to drill the EGR port if you have an EGR car)

I've done dozens of HGs on Phase 1 EJ25s (DOHC) but only one on a Phase II and in that case the woman drove the car while it was overheating for nearly an hour. This last go around on a 98 Outback I needed a whole engine and could not find any local wrecker with a good one. There's a thread about tying to figure out what fits here somwhere.

If I read better I would have realized this is Ej25 only. I have seen some custom adapters made to go the other way, but never the way you want to go.

As for the head gasket issue? If it weren't a problem, Subaru wouldn't have recalled it. I can name 10 of us in Colorado alone who have popped SOHC EJ25 Hg. This isn't internet rumour BS, but actual people I know in the local community. The problem is rampant...
