There's a bulb blank in the gauge cluster behind the stop-lamp cutout. Grab a holder and a 74 bulb, and it should work

I'm sorry, but I'm soooo tempted to quote that in my sig!jnorion wrote:Maybe a stupid question, but what's a stop-lamp?

I'm not drunk and I'm being serious. I can't think of anything in my gauge cluster that I would call a stop lamp. Brake lights come to mind but I don't have one of those in the cluster, nor did I see a warning light relating to them.
But taken as a single line the way you just quoted it, that looks pretty damn funny.

Basically.
At least that's the way it is in my '91.
The brake light is for brake fluid level and e-brake, while the Stop Lamp light is for letting you know if you have a light out.

How would it be annoying? It never comes on until you have a light out........

some systems use a two stage bulb - whereby one element in the bulb can burn out and the other work - thus it looks like the light is fine, but when you step on the brakes either it doesn't light the other element and the light stays teh same intensity as the other brake, or it goes out completly - depends on how the brake light system is setup.
If your stop lamp is lit on your gauge cluster, either you have a problem with the switch that activates the stomp lamp on the ebrake, on your brake pedal, or one of your lights is burned out.
