Not my BC, but she'll do...

Post by skid542 »

Time constraints prevented me from really taking time to look around for a good BC/BF (almost though), so I 'settled' for a later model Legacy. I picked her up today.

1996' Legacy Outback, 2.2L NA, 5sp, AWD, front and rear sways, and 142k on the odometer. It's been kept in great shape and runs great. Nice smooth and quiet. I paid $4,200 for it and feel it's a good deal. There's no rust, no dents, rotors look pretty fresh and the headlights were replaced by the anal second owner because he didn't like the yellowing and didn't want to just polish it. He kept this car clean, I mean clean. He even has a real Subaru battery. It still has the original window sticker too, $22k.

I'm still a little undecided because well, I'm used to my light FWD NA BC that was partially stripped and now have a full wagon. I also lost little over an inch in ground clearance but did gain the AWD. But I think I'm going to like her just fine and already have some plans in the works. Namily rebuilding my other 2.2 NA with cams and maybe some headwork.... But for now it'll be just fine, just fine.

And for the pics -

The BG's are nice cars. A friend of mine has one...I'm trying to convince him to do a 99 Headlamp swap.

At least you get a 2.2 that won't explode when the timing belt breaks...

Nice! It's pretty easy to get scooped hoods for those cars too, just in case you feel like a TMIC is in your future...

Thanks guys. I'm pretty stoked.

Dave, I'd like to leave my rotating image as my BC as well, if you're cool with that :).

I read 96 Outback, and my throat tightened up, and then I read 2.2, and it relaxed again

Nice car!

Crawford? Ha.

Bobble.... Bobble.... Bobble....

We have a motor at the shop ready to go into a customers STi. As it sits, if we ran it N/A, it would make a little over 300 at the crank, and spin to almost 9,000.
