back seat brace in cars with folding rear seats?

Post by scottzg »

so i have a strippo L with no folding rear seats. Between the cardboard in the trunk and the back seat theres a 1" square metal bar bolted in between the strut towers, about a 1/3rd of the way up. Is this in the folding seat cars?

No. It's not.

I have that bar too, but I swapped in a non-folding RS rear seat. Then I got rid of the seat, and left the bar.

Maybe the folding seats have a more rigid construction on their own?

the bar is there to help keep stuff from flying into the backseats from the trunk.

the fold down seats have a hard back.

the non fold down seats are just foam w/the cardboard and the bracing bar behind them.

VERY similar to the bars in the Imprezas that don't have rear folding seats. Just a little more support for the seatback since the stationary ones are merely foam and fabric. I like that it keeps the weight down, rather than integrating the support into the seats, which would be more complicated.
