Seeking confirmation: Struts + Springs on '93 Legacy L FWD

Post by Subaru for Life »

Howdy all,

First of all, I've read the stickies at the top and most of the previous threads regarding strut and srping upgrades.

I just want a final cofirmation before I start buying parts. I have a '93 Legacy L FWD with over 211k with the factory original struts and springs

I would like to get a bit more performance than my OE, and according to the stickies, the best route to take would be to switch over to '02-'03 WRX springs and struts.

I am thinking of using GR2s for struts and stock '02 WRX springs. Is that going to be oaky?

Also I've read somewhere that when I order rear struts for GR2s, I should mention FWD as they're different from AWDs?

I should use the OE top mounts, dampeners and washers for my '93 instead of the WRX's?

Sorry for being so thick, but if anyone could confirm this, I'd really appreciate it :D

Yes the FWD rear struts are different then the AWD rear struts.

Not sure what the rear WRX springs mated to FWD rear struts will do, but it's probably worth a shot to see.

From what you're looking to do, all you really need is WRX springs, and a new set of GR2's meant for your car.

Hi Josh, thanks for the confirmation. I think I'll start looking for the parts. I'll keep my Legacy top mounts for time being and see if they fit.

Thanks,
Pye

Anyone who's as lost as me could refer to this link. It has nice pics and step by step instructions. I stumbled onto it by chance :D
