Enjoyed the pics---quite the team :!:

The front hood vent to relieve pressure behind the rad is interesting.

Particularly as it would be venting hot air into the I/C scoop.

What's the story :?:

Not sure why theirs is setup like that, but on the pro subaru rally cars....the intercooler is a front mount, and that first vent on the hood is the outlet from the intercooler ducting.

The hoodscoop is the air inlet for the engine.

The STI had a front mount under that first scoop. Didnt get much of a chance to look at the motor as it was a service stage and they were quite busy. I heard it was somewhere around 800hp cut down to ~400 with a restrictor to race. However much power it had, it was waaaaay quick and way infront of everyone else

those cars are owned by Doug Havir, the President/CEO of Rally America. the guy driving the 04 that weekend was Lauclin O'Sullivan. He was one of the Mitsubishi team drivers a couple years ago when David Higgins was driving for them.

the 04 is the first customer car prodrive built for the US after the cars they built for Lovell. it has been "tweaked" and updated since its debut in the 03 season.

i believe it's hoodscoop is blocked off. it runs a reversed intake manifold.

the really fancy stuff on that car is inside and underneath.

the driver is moved back more to the rear of the car and a custom pedal box was made and the steering column was extended. the co driver was moved back even farther. the car is centered around the hand brake lever.

the rear subframe is a sweet tubular piece of construction. all heim joints and spherical bearings.

it even has titanium brake shields.

it has a full anti lag setup and water injection.

if Lauchlin does well at STPR or Maine you may very well see him and this car at the X Games in August.

oh, and that is my Winestone Legacy w/the gold wheels.

haha no way!
yeah that was my white SS
I hear you about getting to the spectator stage. We didnt get in town untill nearly 6:30 and beat feet over there. My buddy Nick was navigating in the GSX for Steve, i think it was his first time. I hear they didnt do to bad, something like 3rd or so.

I cant believe the legacy owner was on here, i just grabed a pic of it for a lil leggy pride. What are you running in that beast, anything past stock? I wish my door panals looked nice like that though... :(

the only mods i have done to it is to replace a broken nipple on the coolant expansion tank w/some crap from a lamp parts store/and a hardware store, AND AGX struts w/stock springs.

i have GN engine mounts and a Perrin lightweight crank pulley sitting in my garage waiting for time to install them.

plans are a WRX TMIC, DP, and maybe a MBC and FCD.

yeah, steve did real well. he knows these roads very well. lauchlin won by 8 minutes. the dust had a lot to do with that.
