Operation of A/C?

Post by mikesoob7 »

I'm not quite sure which forum to ask this so I'll put it out here. Is there a temperature sensor for the A/C? The question comes not from a problem but just interest in how the system works. If I put the fan on high with the A/C on the coldest setting does it cycle on and off more frequently from the additional heat added to the system or will it cycle on and off just as often if the fan is on low?

Thanks,

Mike

The cycles shouldn't be affected by fan speed. . .not unless you use auto climate control where you just preset the temperature and it does what it needs to for maintaining that temperature. :D

Yeah, the compressor is dependant on the amount of "load" or heat removed from the system. The MAX A/C button is no different, just recirc is enabled. Defrost is just AC through the top vents.

No temp sensor for these cars, and I am glad about that. I will never own another car with an ACC, they are a pain to work on, and I would rather adjust the temperature myself than have a computer do it.

Wow, I was wrong . I guess there is alot about these cars I still need to learn about. Still, at least they don't have a ACC to mess around with.

Its not an internal vehicle temperature sensor though, it just lets the compressor know when to pump.

It keeps the heat exchanger cold without freezing or becoming warm enough to notice the temperature difference.

I didnt realize the box was styrofoam filled!

Couldnt you put a variable resistor inline to control how long the compressor ran?
