I'll one-up you :P

I saw a Delorean sitting in a driveway in front of someone's house. I could have walked up and touched it. And add to that, it had "OUTATIME" for a license plate :D

Yeah, A girl I new in H.S. dad had one and it wasn't all that cool. Sloppy clutch too.

We have a brand new Bently running around my neighborhood. Very nice car. It was funny though, the first time I saw it it was parked at a Payless Shoe Source and two uppity white women came out of the store and got in it. Each women had about 6 shoe boxes. I guess that's how they could afford the Bently.

Delorean > S7 because rare > cool

Deloreans are pretty damn rare, and that makes them cool in their own right.

eh, I've driven a Delorean, I'll concur, they suck... never driven an S7, and they are WAY cooler, even to look at (though a Delorean is prety cool lookin in that 80s sorta way)

They're rare huh? ;)

They're cool, but they're total junk. Even the owners will tell you that

S7s are sweet-looking, formidable on a racetrack, and I've been told Steve Saleen is the most personable guy in the world, but I just can't get excited over Ford underpinnings. Even the Detomasos get an ambivalent response from me.

What really irks me though, I was at a similar show to the one I pictured, and people were walking right past a silver Bugatti EB110S to gawk at an S7

A Ferrari Enzo casually drove through our Campus one rainy October evening last year...It passed me, as I was going the other way, and I rolled down my window to verify that it was indeed an Enzo from the sound...and yes...it was!

I'll give you that an S7 is cooler and faster. But, the Delorean's reputation and overall rarity give it that extra touch.

but rarity is the only thing it has, it even looks like crap, they were only ever popular because of Back to the Future

since its called "Back to the Future, then was there ever a "To the Future"?

They made planty of DeLoreans. They sucked because they were built by poor Irish that predominately hadn't even owned a car. Thanks to the British government and DeLorean's desperation each one required $5k just to make them saleable once arriving on these shores. I saw the first S7 and was impressed with its build quality, but couldn't see any point in it. Yeah, another supercar that can barely be driven on the street. The styling's generic, too. Any design student draws two cars every time they absently doodle in a margin: the Saleen S7 and the Pontiac Solstace (I must've drawn that car 1000 times in HS while teachers droned on about whateverthefuck That they built it and the styling is so raved about by the press is sad).

when has there or will there be a point to supercars? NEVER!
of course you can drive them on the street, they handle a whole lot better than any legacy, sure you cant go get groceries in one but why would you want to? 99.99% is that they have several other cars if they have a supercar, so there is no need for a point

Some supercars have a point in terms of the niche they occupy or by standing out as something different. The S7 is the supercar equivalent of a mid-sized $20k car where they're all very similar. Ferrari has a pplace, Lamborghini, Porsche, Pagani (the most impressive car I've seen), McLaren F1 was what the Miura was when it came out. There are plenty of other supercars that pop up constantly (and usually go away just as fast) that are inconsequential in the car history. The Saleen isn't bad at all, it's just a well-executed shrug. It does have racing going for it and that's what separates it form most of the etceterini, but I still don't find it to be that interesting. And it's way too big for the road which makes it cumbersome to drive. Same reason I'm somewhat indifferent to the Murcialago, but like the Gallardo. The McLaren F1 is nice and small (speaking of irrelevance - the McLaren SLR), the Pagani is too, and has excellent visibility. I personally wouldn't buy a supercar just to impress kids while driving slow paranoid about hitting/getting hit by something you don't have the room to maneuver around or having to launch it hail-mary style at every intersection 'cause you can't see what's coming.

But I've gotten jaded to the whole supercar thing with familiarity.

Hey the title said it. It is a $550k car to start with. Deloreans are shit. My buddy has a neighbor that has one and he's always trying to get to run right. My point was to just say that its almost a once in a lifetime oppornunity to see one and I saw one right next to me. O-60 in 2.8, what now Enzo! The guy that owns it also has a F-650 and the most badass cigarette boat you'll evar see. We will see who wins when the CBR goes up against it!!! I'm drunk and it took me forever to write this. :D

That would be BTTF II. They went to 2015 with the hover Delorean and Mr. Fusion.

the one I have ridden in had been painted black.
"special edition" the guy claimed.
more like been wrecked and now a bondo queen so they had to paint over the stainless. not many that can do great, bare metal quality bodywork on a stainless car.
oh, the delorean runs a volvo(or was it peugot) motor with bosch k jet. barf.

I've seen two different F430s drive pas the building where I work. I've also seen a Continental GT, several Gallardos, and a couple Quattroportes. No really exotic cars though. :)

The DeLorean's motor was a Volvo/Renault effort IIRC and totally inapropriate for the application even in it's originally planned lighter weight configuration. The Bricklin was a better execution of the same idea earlier on but without the flash looks (too kit-carish).

I've got to agree with that, when I 1st saw it, I actualy thought it was another version of a Mclaren. Pretty much copied that design and though often doodled, Mclaren built it 1st. Dispite that, the S7 is pretty damn cool. There are other supercars I'd own though, I'm actualy a greater fan of just really special regular cars. Like an E55 AMG, or a RS4.... hmm, how about a 22b :)

I think the engines were built by either Volvo/Renault or Peugeot depending on the year, I can't remember.
