Caution: RANT: Mis-interpreting posts and being rude!

I know this is nothing new, same issues different day. More than once this week, somebody put something out there, another reads it and takes it the wrong way, arguing starts....

What is it about the sarcastic comments made with humor intended which always seem to go bad? I think it sucks that dude in the parts shed chose to dissassociate himeself with this site. He edited his post but from memory he had good TURBO specific parts like hood and bumper for reasonable money. He left because a couple people gave him some grief, which is dumb but still he did leave. If I could, he would be personally invited to return and is owed a public apology.

Another thing that bothers me, people with no interest in buying someones stuff that like to speak up and say what someones parts are worth, usually they are wrong to. A part or a car is worth what a buyer will pay. If you don't want to pay someones price, you are not their buyer! Keep the lowballing or telling somebody what there stuff ought to sell for to yourself. Its not funny, its rude. And I don't want to hear, "oh, I only want to help someone in this community not get ripped off" BS, let buyers do their own research on how much to pay for something, we are mostly all adults here.

This site is great, and I like it compared to others because it used to feel more personable...group hug kind of thing. Now, not so much. We should ALL make an effort to think a little more before hitting that post button, remember your statements can be widely interpreted...

some forums have a policy of not posting in the classified threads, and taking all transactions to PM. not a bad idea IMHO.
I am not going to post in the classifieds at all anymore, unless I am actually interested in purchasing the item.

That sounds like an excellent policy to me. I've had people jump into threads and offer an uninvited opinion, it can be a little annoying.

I think it could be settled very easy with a Don't State What You Paid in someone else's post rule.

And don't tell them publicly (in the thread) that they want too much. PM them or move on.

I like this suggestion. It's fine to ask questions about the sale, frankly it IS needed much of the time. Might as well make the questions and answers public to help parties. This type of rule would minimize the turning of a for sale post into a pissing match.

Let the free market rule The parts shed should be strictly business. Save the heated arguments and debates for the asstray.

No, what I meant was let the buyers determine what the value of an item should be. Let the sellers/buyers work things out. Keep others (and government) from regulating what to sell/buy for.
