Hooray for the safety of the desert...

Although I've got to say, the sandstorms are mildly irritating.

By the by, I was incorrect on that article, it is in fact from the latest "Scientific American" magazine, not "Popuar Science" (I've got both, and got them cornfused)...

Anyway, I just had the scanner hooked up so I went ahead and scanned the article. It's in a handy PDF if anyone here wants to read it (quite informative, probably a good read if you live in a densely-populated area, especially near a coastline) PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.

The pacific nw also doesnt have (too much) Lyme disease, poisoness snakes (rattlers dont count, they are out in the middle of nowhere and let you know they are there), and Man-boy love affair snipers....

move to Canada if u can live past the snow its great.... Being that we all drive Subaru's snow should come to use with a smile

My home British Columbia, Canada. Lots of work, everything you could ever want, or want to do is within a 2 hours drive, and by that i mean EVERYTHING. Weather is good. It sure as hell dont rain like it did when i was a kid. Look it up its nice here.

Never seen snow in my life actually. :)

I don't think I would mind it that much, since all my Soobies have four-wheel-drive of some sort, but I'd be scared of them rusting out.

Storm's pretty much cleared out, just a lot of rain...

... oh, and it caused the power to go out for a second last night, reset my alarm (battery in it must be dead) and cause me to be an hour and a half late for work this morning

Every time it rains good here in Milwaukee they end up dumping millions of gallons of untreated waste into Lake Michigan. Fifteen years ago the city spent BILLIONS of dollars to build "The Deep Tunnel" so we wouldn't have to do so much dumping. They made a huge mistake though. Instead of having seperate lines for poop and rainwater, they combined the two. Surrounding communities that have seperate systems have to tie into the deep tunnel where everything mixes. The biggest concern when this project all started (besides cost) was the seperate/combined factor. Every time we get a good amount of rain, we wait to hear how many millions of gallons of "partially treated" waste gets dumped into the lake. Last year was one of the worst, overall totals for the year were in the sub-billion gallon category. Local news and radio reporters went down to the lake and they said literally chunks were being washed ashore. The whole place stunk. Aerial photographs showed the whole area was dark brown, and the water didn't turn a normal color until you were at least 2 miles off shore. The beaches are constantly shut down due to E. coli contamination. People are pissed that the crazy amount of money we spent didn't just do squat, but actually made matters worse. The biggest concern at the onset of the project (besides cost) got ignored and now we're paying for it with our health. The lake is literally going to shit. Chicago, of all places, is suing us for crying out loud!!! No matter what we citizens do, the reterded Deomcrats we have in office here hear nothing, say nothing, and do nothing. Kinda like Sergeant Shultz from Hogan's Heroes. When will these "dumkapfs" get it?

Plus, I at least need to finish school first.
