Can you guys recommend a bike for me?
Or a good place to start lookin for info to help decide? I know this is a legacy forum but I want to get a motorcycle and don't really want to spend more than 2000 on it, i would much prefer 1500. I doubt itll be anything new at those prices. I've got some general questions, about how many miles is normal per year? How often should oil changes and other routine mantinence stuff like that be done? Is it pretty much the same length of time/miles as a car? Is there anything I should look out for? I'm sure i left out some info and questions

What you buy very much depends on your likes, style and anticipated useage. I have a GSXR400 Suzuki (Jap import) because I want something fast and am not too worried about comfort. If I was going to tour I'd be looking for something like a Gold Wing or a Honda Pan. If you want to offroad you're looking for something like a DR350 or similar. What do you want to use your bike for?

school, work, and general cruising around. I don't really need it to be super comfotable thats what the leg is for , and I'm not even 100% i want a bike, but its always good to try new things.

I just sold a nighthawk 450. Good attributes in every catagory. Ive ridden a good buds 2001 750 many times and was equally impressed.
If you want a bike that lasts forrever and will make you happy then the knighthawk is king. Plus resale isnt half bad. Its fast enough to kill yourself but still comfortable enough for long drives and passengers

Yes, Ducati's are sweet, but also a little spendy.
A Nighthawk 750 is indeed a good general purpose/sport bike. Solid recomendation there.
If you want something a little more low slung, more cruiser flavored... Take a good look at the Suzuki Intruder. It's a very under rated machine and soft on the market so you could pick up a very nice one for not a lot of jingle.
Yamaha Viragos can sometimes be found cheap too, and they are very nice machines.
Personally, I love choppers. I have always loved choppers. But no one makes the chopper than I want. I want a stretched frame chopper with low profile drag style handle bars... like you see in a lot of well done choppers... but with the engine of a Honda VTX 1800. A little more detail... I want a soft tail... I want a 5 gallon tank... If you build it, I'll ride it. From coast to coast... stopping only for necessitys and more fuel and the occasional nap. This is the bike of my dreams. Harleys are fine if you are a fan of the Village People, but I want to ride not wrench.
And don't give me that line about new harley's being more reliable... Feh! Look at the tag on the rear view mirror of a new V-Rod. You have to check the oil every time you stop for gas. If it loses any oil - the engine could be damaged! And that little radiator? On a Harley? Just something else to go wrong.
Okay, I also want another hybrid-chopper... I want a similar machine, but with a 2.5 gallon tank, the engine out of a Honda VFR 750 taht is overbored and supercharged. With this one, not so much of a rake on the front end. I'm talking a smaller chopper capable of attacking most bullet-bikes. That's what I want for around town.
