Turbo to Downpipe gasket Q

Post by Radial GT1 »

I am pulling my engine Saturday to replace the rear main seal. If I break the exhaust off the turbo do I need to replace the gasket there, or is it reusable?? Subaru wants 35 bucks for it. I figure it is a steel gasket, and should be alright. I am just wondering if anyone has had a problem with it needing to be replaced.

Thanks

What I say in this thread about the uppipe gasket is also true for the downpipe gasket:

what vrg recommended to me about the up pipe to turbo gasket was true. i used the copper gasket sealer from permatex and it doesnt leak at all....... asfar as the downpipe to turbo goes. i have reused the same gasket 5 times, with no sealer on it or any surface and it works just fine.

Got the engine out and put back in with no problems. Thanks again, the extra 35 bucks went to buy new fuel hose instead.
