Is your light on the dash blinking?
I don't know much about them, but it could just be a bad electrical connection. My 91 hasn't done it too much lately, but every once in a while, my auto belt loses its electrical connection, and the light on the dash will start blinking. Sometimes it'll do it when I open or close the door, and the belt will jerk along repeatedly because the connection's weak.
