STi ver7 rear strut/springs

Post by MY92 »

Does anyone know if I can just swap the top hats over with the ver7 rear ones and bolt them in?

Do the Legacy rear strut tops marry up to the ver 7 springs? I have a series II.

or do I have to just use the ver7 strut only a fit my legacy spring/top hat onto it.

Cheers
John

Your first and second sentances are right. Use your mount with everything else v7 and you're good to go.

You will probably also need aftermarket camber bolts. I did.

So all I need to do is change top hats?

Hmm that means a lot more spring options too...

Shipping to NZ would cost more from here than the most expensive place in NZ would be in parts alone.

Can you use v8 tapered springs on ver 7 struts with 90-91 tops? or are the v8 bottom id of the springs different to the v7

Sure you can. Your spring choice is limited though. And STi strut mounts are even rarer and more expensive.

Guess, I could always just bore out the chassis mounting holes and not worry about changing tops..

You could, but where's the fun in that?

Exactly. Too ghetto for me I think.

Just picked up some camber bolts for the rear once the struts are in.

Hmm, from whiteline.

02-03 is 130mm ID top and bottom

facelift BC/BF is 141mm bottom 125mm top.

Can the BC/BF/GC/GF top hat accomodate the 5mm difference?
