Ive been thinking more and more about what to use to drive my AWIC system. Its got to be high flow, low pressure, reliable and cheap. Bilge pumps are ok, but they're not quite high pressure enough, they tend to get pissed off at restrictions, and fail.
So, Im sitting here looking at the spare EJ22 waterpump Ive got. Im thinking that maybe if I get a slab of aluminum, tap some appropriate holes in it, and weld on a nipple on the backside where it would normally mate to the block, and mount it in the stock A/C compressor location.
I was considering the idea of fabbing up a small reservoir to attach it to, but Im conserned about the huge amount of heatsoak from the block
thoughts?

it would work, but it's a poor design. One bennifit with an AWIC having an eletric pump is that you can run it when then engien is off, preventing heat soak. The engine waterpump will want to move more wanter than you need and will take more power to run. There are lots of cars that came with eletric water pumps. Plus there's a popular aftermarket pump that a lot of people use. I know typhoon guys run it as thier stock ones fail a lot. It;s small efficient and brushless. I was thinking of swaping to one on the jag if I upgraded the IC radiator.

The stock water pump is way too high a flow rate. You'd have a huge restriction at the intercooler, not to mention trying to run hoses & a radiator that would accomodate the larger sizes.
As for Sammy's heat soak comment. Unless you are running the fans with the car off, running the pump won't really matter that much since there's no air moving across the radiator portion of the system.
I've got a thread with all the info on the pump I'm using.
