Electric water pump for AWIC

Electric water pump for AWIC
Does anyone have any experience with using a Meziere Mini-Inline Electric Water Pump (model WP136S) for an AWIC setup?

These pumps are slightly less expensive than the popular Jabsco pump (Model 50830-0012). but at the same time the GPM rating for the Meziere is about ~6 gpm less.
Does anyone know which one is quieter?
I am in the process of deciding on which pump to get, any thought or opinions are welcome. Or suggestion for other model pumps. Within the $150-$300 range.

I would probably get the 35gpm pump, it may be a little more expensive, but I bet you can figure out a way to dial back the flow if necessary.
The idea that I kinda had from the start was to have the heat exchanger infront of the AC heat exchanger, feed a line from a water tank (talking 10 gallons of water) and run this to the heat exchanger immediately (because if you let the car sit, the water will asorb the heat from the sun/inside of the car - sort of a presoak.)
So, Tank->Exchanger->IC->tank
You could probably do
Tank->IC->Exchanger->Tank

it's only 80 pounds, and in the back of a wagon it'll even out the weight split on the car - making it rotate even easier.Project_Legacy wrote:10 gallons of water!?? thats a crap load of extra weight there dont ya think?? just my 2 cents.

One thing the site doesn't mention is what kind of pump the meziere is.....It doesn't look like a standard centrifugal impeller pump.

80 lbs of anything in the back will increase the polar moment of inertia,
which will decrease the rate of rotation about the center of gravity.
However a high polar moment provides a rather stable ride whereby high speed sweepers can be taken with a lot of cool.
For serious competition a low polar moment is ideal.

I have mounted the Jabsco, tested it, but am just now installing the intercooler (like yesterday).
From the testing I did, it's a very quite pump. You won't hear it over the engine. From the tests I did, yes I would recommend it. I'm going to be out of town for the next week, so I unfortunately won't be able to work on the car. Once I get back, I'm going to be getting everything figured out.

When doing a lot of downsizing in the piping you loose a lot of that flow that makes this pump so good. You'd probably loose more from a weaker pump.
My pump is the My pump is the Johnson CM30P7-1.

It flows a bit less than Josh's and so far I'm using the stock AWIC intercooler radiator and hoses. So I haven't done much hose downsizing. I'm planning on changing things up again sometime to make room for my AC again, but I haven't done it yet. The Johnson pump is pretty slick. All magnetically driven (no motors). It isn't the quietest pump though. I can't hear it all that well over the engine and exhaust, but if you stand outside the car, you hear it.
Too much flow can be a problem as can too little flow. Adding more fluid to the system can be benefitial as well. Josh talks about it all in that post, I think. If it wasn't that one then just search for AWIC posts around that time with both Josh and Vrg3 talking in them.
