Deadbolt TD05 Installed (sort of)

Post by Legacy777 »

Got the new TD05 installed on friday. It was relatively plug and play.

I don't know if all TD05's are this way, or just the ones from deadbolt, but the coolant lines used larger banjo bolts then the stock turbo configuration. It even looks like the coolant lines sent from Deadbolt have been modified.

I had to buy one of those uni-bits to drill out the coolant fittings, since I wasn't about to buy a 1/2" drill. It worked very well...but that bit is like 30 bucks. The size you need is 9/16".

You also need to cut the piece connecting the two coolant fittings, and grind down the excess.

The only other thing that needed to be tweeked was the oil feed line, and that just required a little bending.

The turbo is in, but I still need to plumb up the intercooler and all that jazz.

Here's pics.

The TD05 does use larger banjo fittings for the coolant lines than the RHB5 or TD04.

You can use the TD05's lower coolant line without modification. Its end points a little upwards instead of being horizontal like the stock turbo's, but it works.

Depending on which upper line your TD05 came with, you can often get away with using it, too, if you turn it around 180 degrees. You just might need to extend the hose a little because it'll have to curve a little towards the rear of the engine bay. If you're putting an intercooler on that can actually be beneficial, though, because it moves it more out of the way.

I've already got the old lines hooked up, but yeah, like you said.....looking at the TD05 lines....I probably could have used them too.

I love the turbo. I don't like the fact that it creates so much torque that I've broke my second tranny in 9 months though.
