Pretty simple question I think. It may have been asked before but I am unfamiliar with the part I have a question about. On the back of the strut cluster where the wastegate controls and pressure sensor is there is a large square electronic device. It has a round plastic connector for the wiring harness. What is it and do I need it? Looks like a big power resistor. I think I had heard something about this being for automatic transmisions before....could be wrong.
This is what I am doing in my swap:
91 legacy NA
Swapping to a EJ22T from a 93 legacy SS
Using 93 ECU
Using NA wiring harness
Using FWD 5spd tranny

You are right. It is for the 4EAT and you do not need it.
FYI: If you use an after market boost controller, you can plug that resistor in where the wastegate soleniod goes. Then you can remove the soleniod and not get a cel.

Ok, So I have everything in the car. The EJ22T is sitting in there nice. I did all the wiring for the strut tower components and switched the cam and crank all around (polarity as well) and was just about the fire it. Just walked to the front of the car to plug in the motor harness in and guess what...the damn connectors are different! I thought that this was very strange so I went to my BOX-O-PARTS thats laying in the corner of the garage where I knew I had an extra turbo harness (that is damaged). The other turbo harness matches my NA harness exactly. This is the harness that I check fit with.
Does anyone have wiring diagrams for the different connectors? I can make a stereo style connector to make the two harness work together if I know what wires go where. I was hoping that wire color would be the same but that doesn't seem to be the case.
....and everything was going so smooth....damn it!

You should swap the engine harness off your original NA engine onto the EJ22T. It's possible to do it without removing the intake manifold but it's probably easier to just remove the manifold.

OK so I got all the wiring harness swapped onto the engine. Put the Turbo fuel pump in and tried crankin the engine over and it fired about 2 times and never actually started. I checked the coil pack resistance...seems to be good. I am getting fuel to the fuel rails and into the injectors (don't have a pressure gage to validate the pressure). I checked the timing belt to make sure it was in the right position (TDC on cylinder one) that seems to be good too). I noticed that I had a little left over fuel coming out the exhaust manifold. So this would tell me that I either have a leaking fuel injector (by the o-ring) or that the ignition timing isn't correct. I can't think of much else it could be.
After I got pissed enough I just got in the car and cranked the engine over for about 30 seconds and at the end of the 30 seconds I had cylinders firing every couple of strokes. This reminds me of when I had a cam sensor burn out on one of my buicks.
So I guess the big question that I have is about the wiring of the crank and cam sensors. Since I used my NA harness I followed the diagram and moved the CAM+ CAM- and CAM Shield from B56 to B58 and swapped the + and - wires and moved the CRANK+, CRANK- and CRANK SHIELD to B56 where the cam sensor was and again swapped the + and - wire positions. Is that right? Thats the way I understood the diagram.
Another thing I just happened to notice was the when I wired the MAP sensor into the ECU I had the red wire going to ground and the black wire going to signal. I think that this is the way that they cam out of the TURBO harness when I took them out. This just seems to be a weird thing to do. Seems like they would have made red the signal wire and black the ground. Did I screw this up too?
Really sorry to bombard with all the wiring questions...I know there are enough of them. I am just at a loss for whats wrong with this thing.

did you try fluttering the pedal or wlooring it while cranking? The plugs could just be a little fouled.

I did try opening the throttle body up. It does seem to help. I did do somethine really stupid when I first tried starting it...your comment just reminded me. I forgot to plug in the starter wire when I first turned the key. So I basically shot fuel without the motor turning. I do have an extra set of plugs (they were in my NA engine) not sure if NA plugs are the same as turbo plugs....if I remember correctly they both have the same gap.
your wiring is goods. I thought the same thing about the MAPS wiring
