Mtn. Bike East Tiger Mountain?

Post by Legacy777 »

Anyone in the Seattle area ride East Tiger Mtn?

I rode it the other week when I was up there. It was pretty bad ass! The main trails aren't what I'd consider easy. There was a fair amount of roots & rocks, but it was good switch-back single track.

The downside, you have a 3 mile climb right off the back that takes a good 40-45 min.

Here's some links for anyone interested. It's off of I-90 & Hwy 18 (Snoqualmie Falls exit)

Ive ridden that trail easily 50 times since 1995, and done quite a bit of trail maintenance work with the BBTC there. it is a great loop for an after work ride as it is close to where I lived in seattle, wasnt too long or grueling, and has a good fun factor though a little tame for my tastes technically wise.
FWIW the trail work that has been done on it recently kinda tamed it up a bit, used to be a lot more washed out and sketchy which was funner. but I consider fun to be black diamond at a minimum.
glad you had fun josh, is there good stuff down in TX? and is there any kind of elevation there?
oh and RE the climbing bit, I actually prefer rides with a nice fire road climb where you can just hammer out all the elevation and have a nice singletrack descent.

Are there multiple trails?

Maybe it was because I haven't ridden anything like that in a while, or the fact I went hauling ass down the trail, but I thought it was pretty technical, especially for the speed I was going. I rented a full suspension gary fisher, so I had to abuse it

Ehh, I really haven't found much in Houston. There's a park that has some ok trails, but you can ride around everything in an hour or two. There's another park called the ant hills where I used to live in Houston, that were pretty decent, more slow and technical then anything, but not super.

I was in San Antonio for the 4th of July visiting some friends and there were some pretty good motorcycle trails & dried up river beds (very rocky) that we road. Very good compared to Houston, but not really the elevation change that you see in the mtns.

there is really only one loop there worth doing. you can ride up the fire road past the trailhead and go up top to a radio tower dealie, but definitely not worth it unless you are after a workout. if you are ever in the seattle area with a bike again, look up exit 38 off of I90. it takes some finding and is not a sanctioned area, but it is the funnest thing around there(doable on a normal mtb but will get scary) unless you are a serious downhiller and then I would say go to exit 27 off I90 and look around.

I've done that trail quite a bit. Always seem to go out there my first ride of the season and crash about four times and hurt myself. Good fun tho. Yes, the ride up to the tower is interesting but mostly just hard road climbing. Great view when you get there. Just something to try and do once unless you are training for something...
