Coil spring question

Post by realfinn »

Getting ready to put the RS suspension on the old legacy. I just noticed that when I set the rear coil spring on the struts lower spring perch that the coil spring is a bit smaller than the actual perch. Anyone think this will pose a problem? I plan on putting the end of the coils spring in the perch so that it sits in the groove that is stamped out and just letting the perch overhang the coils. It only overhangs (at most) 3/8-1/2". I can't think of any reason why this wouldn't still work. the perch will still give the spring the support that it needs.

It may be setup to use a rubber bushing or insulator. That's probably what I'd do to eat up the extra space.

Any good sources on on where I could find said bushing? It would have to be a custom job I would think since its a mutt of suspension parts.

The stock springs come with them.

Try to find a set in a junkyard you can snag the piece from.
