2000 Legacy GT 2.5 - floppy clutch pedal

Post by acapizzi »

Hi,

I have noticed lately that my clutch pedal does not return fully after it's pressed to the floor. If you put your foot under the pedal you can pull the pedal back up to the top.

Also at times (and I think it related) when I'm letting the clutch out - it is still very close to the floor when it engages.

Does anyone have any idea what could be happening?

Thanks,
Antonio :?

It could be a leaking master or slave cylinder. The seal is letting fluid pass and the hydraulic effect is lessened. It could also be a combination of a bad throwout bearing and worn clutch.

hi,

Thanks for the information. One thing that i forgot to mention; sometimes the clutch feels completely normal. The sloppy clutch seems to happen after i have been operating the clutch for about 45 minutes.

Do you still think it's the same thing?

Thanks,

In my wagon it seemed to get worse as the system got warmer. I got used to pumping it once or twice before using it, like a racecar driver tapping the brakes before a turn. It's still hard to say, but I'd put it up there as a top suspect.
