EBC using factory pressure sensor

Post by Threshld1 »

So i was thinking about this the other day. I picked up a Hybrid EBC a while ago and have been using it with much pleasure over those damn homemade MBC's. I remember reading the post about the FCD and that the sensor cant read much above 13-14psi accuratly. So my question is if this EBC i have uses the MAP signal to base its pressure control, then am i not limited to that 13-14psi max reading if i were to install an FCD (rather the clamp voltage)?

Also anyone know how high an old 90 supra 7MGTE pressure sensor can read? I just happen to have an extra laying around but no pump to test it.

Yeah, the sensor range will limit your EBC. You'll have to set the EBC a fair amount below the limits of the sensor. That way, the EBC can see when it goes over a bit and it will know that it has to pull it back to the target.

I don't quite understand what you're saying about the FCD. Most FCDs effectively clamp the voltage. If your EBC was reading the clamped voltage, that would be bad. It wouldn't know the real voltage, it would think that you were never reaching your target boost and just let your boost spool higher and higher.

An aftermarket pressure sensor is the right answer. Very easy to install.

Hmm, glad i realized this before i built myself an FCD.
Any suggestions for a cheap aftermarket sensor?
