News from ciper

Post by vrg3 »

The other day, I heard from ciper for the first time after more than a year.

First, he wants to say that he considers a good portion of the board members to be his friends, and he has wanted to come back, especially since he still has 3 Subarus. But right now he's not doing so well. We knew he was having trouble from what Hardy had posted a year ago, but I'll just share what ciper wrote:
ciper wrote:I was fired from my job a little while after a business trip to china. I am dying of cancer and will probably have radiation next week. My appendix burst while I was in china and I had to take the flight in pain that is hard to describe in text. It was removed about a 6 weeks after leaving china. I was in the hospital for problems related to cancer and just got out yesterday. My divorce was final in december after almost 5 years. I was sued for a traffic accident where I wasnt the driver. That is the short version of the story

Please understand that I will use all of my energy to get through this. I
promise that I will try to visit again someday.

You guys were very helpful in of the hard times in my life. I had fun even when the discussion was ,,,, "heated" ;)

goodbye for now but not forrever.

Just to clarify -- ciper's not Hardy. THAWA is Hardy. ciper was one of the really active old-school members when the BBS was new. A great deal of the knowledge on this board comes from his experience.

I'm sure you can let him know better than anyone how much he's missed around here, and that whether we've met him or not, we all wish him the best.

Shit. What kind of cancer is it? That really sucks. I had a friend who beat stomach cancer at 20. Had radiation and chemo and it worked. I really hope the same happens here. All that other shit probably doesn't help either. I feel like an asshole for be so lucky lately.

Yeah I got an email from him as well. Definitely doesn't sound like he's had a good string of luck.

Hopefully things will take a turn for the better.

I'm guessing it's testicular cancer based on what Hardy said. We can only hope it hasn't spread.

All our positive hopes can only help.

I remember him discussing his marital issues in IRC a couple years ago.

We all hope he gets better.

Ciper can sure explore some ideas.

I stumbled upon his fascinating description on how to get the best launch out of a 4eat. It's worth reading--even if you don't have one

Yea, that really sucks bigtime. I wasn't around when he was, but I definately heard alot about him and read quite a few posts by him. I sure do hope he gets through this hard time as painlessly as possible. I know it's tough, that's alot to work through. :(

I'm kinda in the same boat as Binford and a lot of the other guys. Cancer is a horrible thing to battle alone and he should know there are people here who will help in any way we can. Thanks for keeping us informed Vikash.

My father faught and beat cancer twice. . . and I'm convinced it's due to his stubbornness . . . which means I KNOW Ciper will make it through all this just fine. ;)

Ciper, all the board's best wishes are with you, man.

Ciper was and still is one of my favorite members of the board. I always knew going into a thread that he'd have something to say about the subject and fun would ensue.

Best of luck to him!

Ciper had some of the coolest cars ever...

Never actually met the man but he was a great guy on mail. Alway free to lend a hand and try out cool things while some of us like me looked on in wonder... Let's hope he'll be like Lance and fight it and be back on board.

My prayers are with you man!

My prayers go out for you Ciper. I was a lurker during your 'reign' over the BBS but your impression was made. May God be with you.

I argued to no end with that man about everything from windows down vs. Air Conditioning to the Subaru OEM Subwoofer being inadequate for listening to music at highway speeds with said windows rolled down. He is a good man, and will forever be. I can only hope that things turn around for him, and that he comes out on top. He will always be one of the most prominent members on this board.

Let's all rejoyce and clink our mugs together for Ciper!

Has anyone heard anything about Ciper? This thread tells the story up until last August.
