Quick question

Post by redlineracer »

If you got your quarter panel kicked in or crushed in, would you get that thing fixed by TAC welding a piece of sheetmetal, then sanding it down and paint it to look like new? Just a wild question that crossed my mind.

Ditto on that. I forget where I saw it, but I saw someone here had tack welded in a new quarter panel...it looked God-awful before it was painted.

my TW quarter panel is crushed in from the semi hit. I was thinking about having somone weld on some metal rods on the outside where its crushed in, and then i was going to try and make a slide hammer to yank on the rods to pull it back out, then bondo, sand, rattle can.

my dad told me to weld a bolt to the quarter panel (my xt6 got backed into when the previous owner had it) then tap the slide hammer attachment so it will thread right onto the bolt... pull out the dent, then just grind teh weld off the bolt

sounds like a decent idea to me.. I've got a mig so I'm going to try it :-D
yo mang, can I get a rootshell?

yep that sounds bout right. i know how to weld, but dont have access to a welder. looks like i better make some friends with someone local who has a welder to borrow, for exchange of beer.

I think my crushed in quarter will take about 5 bolts to weld along the main damage. i think it will be better to pull it then to push it back out from inside. most of the paint is still there as of now, so it might not even look too bad- if it straightens out okay. that quarter panel metal is some heavy guage stuff all i know.
