Origin of Subaru Symbol?

Post by BAC5.2 »

We all know the stars of pleiades, that's not what I'm asking about.

I want to know about the JDM symbol. What is it all about?

I really dig the look of the JDM Forester grille, and if I decide to pony up, I think it looks pretty badass. The SF STi bumper looks pretty interesting too.

I think the black grille, on my green car, with black cladding would look pretty badass.

I also kind of like this grille:

Your welcome :)

I just looked at it again, and it looks like an L and a mirrored L underneath. Perhaps for Legacy?

damn. I don't get the Forester one though. That doesn't look like an F...

It's generally accepted that the "L7" JDM grille is an L with a mirrored L underneath, and stands for Legacy. Having never seen the JDM Forester grille, I think it's a bit large, but not unattractive.

Here is a better "F"

It is a bit large, I agree, but I do think it looks kinda neat.

I think Hardy once said the L stands for Legacy and the 7 stands for the 7 stars in the constellation. I don't remember him producing a source on that information though.

I bet it's just the mirrored L thing.

Get that first Forester grille, way better than the 2nd.

I'd say if it's an F it stands for Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd
If it's an I it could stand for Subaru of Indiana

for more info, read
http://www.subaru.com/common/about/about_fhi.jsp
http://www.subaru.com/common/about/about_indiana.jsp

or maybe...it's an F and an I for Fuji and Indiana.....hmm.... :?
