Help! only getting 3-5 psi!!!
I just got a 94 touring wagon for dirt cheap and have changed all the fluids, added a k&n, and installed a boost gauge. I have been getting around 5 psi and sometimes less. i have checked all the vaccume lines and tried several methods to get it back to its stock level. i do have a CEL with codes 35 and 49, Canister purge solenoid valve, and MAF. could these be the reason or am i overlooking something obvious?

It's possible the MAF sensor could be causing it....but are you sure you have hoses connected properly to the wastegate solenoid?

Where did you tap into for the boost gauge? You may not have a correct boost reference.

I'd be worried that your boost gauge is wrong before you start doing stuff like punching holes to raise boost. Hook up a laptop with the BC-BF scan tool, or borrow a friend's boost gauge.
I had an autometer boost guage that read 5-7 psi. I kept turning up the boost, and over time the reading kept sagging back down. Eventually I started hitting fuel cut. It turned out I actually was hitting 13-14 psi and the boost gauge was just crap. Good thing I didn't have an FCD installed yet.
Also, tell us where the gauge taps off.
Also, push on the wastegate lever and confirm that it moves and springs back.

i hooked up the boost gauge off of the line coming out the manifold and i have another boost guage i can try, im using an old autometer that has been in a few cars, i'll hook the other one up after work and see what happens. The car fells slower than it should, and according to my g-meter im not pulling as strong as my last t-leg. does the computer lower boost if a CEL is on?

Yes, especially when it detects regular and not premium gasoline... at which point you'll get wastegate boost, about 5-6psi

seems like you all were rite, after re-checking the boost gauge, emptying the tank of gas that came with the car and filling premium, and re-doing all the vaccume lines, ect, the car is boosting to normal levels, it rained today and i am enjoying sideways conditions again finally
, i bought a can of seafoam he other day, where should i add that stuff?
