Hi again... As I told in a previous post my 95 brighton doesn't want to start... I'm trying to isolate the problem, and I came across the idea that it may be the ignition coil... Now I took it off and went to Parks, Advance, Autozone, and pep boys and none of them were able to check it. I've found some procedures on line but based on the fact that the car runs but it is not.
Do you know how to check the ignition coil? Maybe I'll have to buy some tools but It maybe cheaper this way anyway.

Describe what it does when it won't start? Does it just keep turning over, or does it not turn over at all?
Only way to really...test the coil is to pull a plug and see if it sparks. I'd just replace it with a known good one to see if that fixes it. However, coils don't usually go bad, I'd check fuel.

there is a big difference between the two.
also check the ignitor, if that goes you will not get spark either.
no start with spark could mean that you are getting spark at the wrong time ( assuming fueling is ok ) , your crank sensor could be bad , or your cam sensor as well ( there was a TSB about replacing them as a pair came out a year or two ago )
I would first verify that I was getting no spark, then check the resistance across the coil as arcane said, although I dont have the spec in front of me as to what the resistance is supposed to be.
If that checks out I would check the ignitor, and check to be sure the cam / crank sensors are functioning properly.
again , this is assuming fueling is ok, the plug under the rear seat on the passenger side is notorious for having moisture get inside and temporarily shorting, if you are not getting fuel sometimes this can be the cause, if it is, look at the plug for burnt marks on it , that would clue you in to a problem there.

Thanks... I'll see what I can do to check on that...
I guess the ECU maybe fried because when I put the keys in "ON" There is clicking noises all over the place....
I guess I'll have to take it as a project and see how far I can get.
