Knocking+running like hell=frown

Post by Millertime »

My car is knocking pretty bad....and it has been running like shit ever since I had the problem with my gauge reading vacuum and not boost. I have a feeling something is quite wrong, but I don't know what it could be. My subaru shop is going to look at it next Monday, but I don't know if I should stop driving it around in the meantime.

If I drive it like an old man, I don't notice anything, but when I go to accelerate, the thing just acts like there is no gas (like right before yer car dies from no gas)

Someone on here knows what's up and would make me very happy if they informed me of what I should do. Thanks in advance.

did you check for boost leaks? look for a spot where your pressurized piping oculd have came off ( like at your IC )

if thats not the case I would look at your turbo.

if all of a sudden you are not making boost, you either have a boost leak somewhere or your turbo went bad ( which probably isnt the case since you say its fine when light throttle cruising )

It's SUPER weird....I don't know a ton about cars. My line for my boost gauge keeps coming apart at the 'T' Sometimes it comes only half off...That is why I believe it showed vacuum and not boost. The last few days it has been knocking like crazy and running as if it were out of gas...(could still hear turbo, and gauge read the right boost) but it just wouldn't run right. So tonight the 'T' came all the way off, (no boost or vac) I got out, tightened it all up, and the knock WENT AWAY!!!! And it ran better!!

Is this a problem with my vacuum line? Would that REALLY cause a knock?

well it really depends on where you had it tapped, but yes its a possibility. Put some zip ties on the "T" to keep the lines from comming loose.

I've been meaning to do that for 2 weeks now.... I keep putting it off. Now that I am home from work with a fractured back, I have no excuse. Thanks for the help
