Looking at buying a Legacy

Post by paulmeisterpk »

Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying a '92 legacy wagon for around $400. It's an automatic, and the tranny supposedly doesn't shift out of first gear. Would you guys recommend picking this up? Where can I get a tranny for this and how much would I be looking at to spend? I really want a 5speed, but they seem to be hard to come by. What else should I look for since the tranny is bad? Thanks, Paul

I've also found a '91 wagon with a 5-speed and 207,xxx miles for around a thousand. This one looks like parts of it have been spray canned. Seems like a lot of miles though. Would I be getting ripped off for that much money?

The auto trannies are notorious for having issues as they get a lot of miles if they were not properly maintained.

Depending on the condition of the 91, that's an ok price. I'd want it to be in good shape, and everything working.

Didn't buy the 91 5 speed. The rear quarters were bondo and all four struts were shot. Where could I find an automatic to replace the busted one in the '92 I mentioned earlier?
