Yes, tackling them to get them out of danger, and into a preserve, so they can be rereleased into the wild when they're healthy is conservationism. They didn't just make a show about tackling crocs, he was doing this long before the camera ever showed him doing it.Adam West wrote:And I suppose if tackling animals for a living makes you a conservationist, well then, whatevah...

Anyone see the video? Did he look at the camera and say "crikey"? Just curious."My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it's shaky or slightly out of focus, I don't give a rip. Even if a big old alligator is chewing me up I want to go down and go, 'Crikey!' just before I die. That would be the ultimate for me."

I do want to see the video when it's finally released.
Edit: ^^^ After all, isn't that what Steve would have ultimately wanted? Didn't he actually state that...?

Yes he did.
Conservationists aren't just the tree hugging types and the ones that protect whales in rubber rafts. Conservationists can be anyone. People can donate money to groups that keep areas from being developed. People can pick up trash in parks and national preserves. People can make others aware of what's out there and why it should be respected and cared for. Hunters, like the many here in Wisconsin (including myself), are the biggest conservationists in the US.
Sure, Steve Irwin was quite a character on his show. The funny thing is, people who knew him said he was the same from when he woke up to the time he went to bed. It's only fitting that suck a charismatic person who loved animals and nature should be on TV. I'm pretty sure that he didn't spend all his money on pussy and beer either.
He brought us to another world through our televisions and showed us what nature was all about. Sure, he did some dangerous shit, but he brought us face to face with things we'd never see in real life. He had us meet people like him who made it their sole mission to respect and preserve the creatures of Earth, both big and small. He clued us in to the affects we place on animals while we live our busy lives and why we as humans need to keep ourselves in check for their sake.
He did this all while making it interesting. Shame on him, you say? I say shame on us.

I have a sting ray barb that a friend from an Aquarium gave me. The thing is brutal, I defanately would not want it jabbed anywhere in my body. Timothy treadwell was w friggin idiot, Irwin was very very different from him. Being a professional in the animal world I constantly get asked questions about steve lately, ohh do you want to be like him??? No, but he has done a lot of great things for many different animals, it just isn't about tackling animals. Different people do different things, Austin Stevens(whatever his name is) is bascially about tackling animals and I can't stand him. oh and terri I highly doubt will ever release that video
