Stiffer Pitch Link?
I was browsing around some impreza stuff and saw an STi Pitch Link. I was wondering if an impreza link was swapable for our legacy link? Besides the fact that ours is steel and the prez' is plastic the link looks about the same, I thought about taking a trip to a yard to measure things up and see if it'd work. Anyone already know or have experience?

It'll fit.....there's no reason to swap IMO....that link does damn near nothing. Take out your current link, drive around. I doubt you'll feel any difference.

It was the last STI mount upgrade I did and I love it. It lessened accelleration and decel. engine movement. My stock bushing had a small tear in it though, which may have contributed to an improvement. I dont have an intercooler in the way and it still took me a long time to install. I would really like to have tried it as the first mount upgrade to see what it does all by itself.

are you talking of the center tunnel support link on the top center of tranny?Legacy777 wrote:It'll fit.....there's no reason to swap IMO....that link does damn near nothing. Take out your current link, drive around. I doubt you'll feel any difference.
It's purpose is very important in a hard front end collision. It will keep the motor/drivetrain from flying out the front of the car in a high speed impact. It will also keep the engine from comming into the driver compartment too. without it, its just the two motor mounts, and they are liquid filled and will break in a collision.
please do not just remove it.

This is a little off-topic but my friend's lexus is engineered so in a front end collision the engine drops so that it isnt pushed back into the firewall and consequently into the driver/passenger compartment.

Well, from the reading I did, apparently the GC guys at scoobymods say it helps along with the tranny and engine mounts. Word is that the STi link is the same as the 95 L Impreza. They compare it to the '99RS pitch link. Here's the link: http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=168
I called the dealer and they wanted like $47 for the 95L pitch link. I may do it, but there are a few mods I'd like to take care of first.

I am mainly referring to any performance gains. I saw absolutely no difference between having the stock link in, and not having it in.Bheinen74 wrote:are you talking of the center tunnel support link on the top center of tranny?Legacy777 wrote:It'll fit.....there's no reason to swap IMO....that link does damn near nothing. I do have both STi trans & engine mounts.
In regards to a crash, yes I think it should be there.
