so this has been happening lately. The engine seems to be hitting something when it hits 5500. its not boost cut. The boost never goes past 10psi. I dont know what fuel cut feels like but let me explain what it does. When I floor it and hold the pedal to the floor it accelerates fine. when it hits 5500 the engine basically stops and is like its running on 2 cylinders or something and the rpms do not increase. it will stay like this for as long as I keep the pedal floored. if I let up for a second (long enough for the auto to shify gears) then it runs fine again. This motor runs like shit! Any thoughts?

ok 31 views and no replies. that in itself is interesting.... well I noticed that it did not do this today. It appeared that the boost level was between 8-10 psi closer to 8 today. maybe I'm hitting boost cut and my gage is messed up or there is a leak in the line going to the gage.

Maybe, but that wouldn't explain why it only goes bonkers about 5500. If anything, your boost should be petering off as you climb that high, not increasing and making you hit fuel cut.

could be the MAF. search about cleaning it.

Im guessing you have no CELs?

I recently had a similar problem. When I would hit about 6k it would start to pop and sputter, If I stayed on the gas it would slowly accelerate to redline(7250)

Turns out it was my cam sensor. I replaced it tonight and the problem went away.

Just a thought.

yes, I dont have any CEL's. This car has run like shit since I bought it almost a year ago. I need to get the scantool hooked up.

ok so I finally checked the codes last night and although I did not have or ever get a CEL I found that I have code 11. I see that an 11 means crank angle sensor. would this make the engine do whats its doing?

... just looked up a crank angle sensor and holy jesus! $226.00!!!
