gearbox legacy turbo '91

Post by Widebody »

Hello everybody,
Here a bunch of questions about a gearbox for a 91 legacy turbo awd. Sadly mij second gear has ceised to excist. When shifted into second its rattling like pebbles in an empty beercan. My dealer said probbably one er two of the sprockets has a chipped flank or the synchromesh has died. Now somebody told me that a WRX box is about the same. Can anybody confirm this?

Thanx in advance

The WRX tranny is interchangable AS LONG as you change the rear diff to a WRX rear diff as the gearing inside the center diff is different between the two. Alternatevly, you could swap your old center diff onto the WRX tranny, but that is more work. This is assuming your talking USDM WRX, as I don't know anything about the older non-USDM ones.
