Which CES exhaust system do you have?

Post by stipro »

For those who have fitted CES exhaust systems, what set-up are you using? How much did it cost you?

I am interested in getting this system, but the price I was quoted seemed to be a little high. I dont know. I just want to get the facts from you guys.

It's an expensive exhaust.

I think retail on the kit I have was like $1600.

CES parts, cost

Post by kleinkid »

This is what I paid and received for $1500(USD)

1 S.S. CES Twin Dump Down Pipe With External Ceramic Coating
1 S.S. Boost Enhancer Plate(one US-WRX spec.)
1 3" Hi Flow S.S. Catalytic Converter, Mild Steel Flanged
1 3" Center Section with S.S. Resonator
1 3" S.S. Oval Muffler with 4" S.S. Angle Cut Custom Tip
1 Hardware pack: Hangers drilled/pins and washers supplied. Gaskets, nuts and bolts (for section flanges) included.

It is very good quality and performs well. Would reccommend it if you have the bucks.

I didn't buy it (came on car :D ) but it is what klienkid posted, and I have the reciept for ~$1500

very nice system... I have not had to deal with the Mfg at all though (and won't) so I can't comment on that. It passes CO emmisions to boot!

Yeah I passed CA 02 emmissions with a metal cat in place of the test pipe. That is saying a lot I think. I failed on inspection, though, because CA requires all aftermarket parts to be marked with a number that verifies they are certified to be in CA are are emissions legal. Well, obviously, CES wouldn't have such a number, and I don't think many subaru aftermarket parts do, for that matter.

I don't have all the rattle from the axles that Josh had, but I did have an issue with the down pipe hitting the crossmember. That problem is now gone, and the only one left is that the resonator rubs up against the driveshaft in one spot on occasion. It is very annoying, and it only happens when I'm engine braking for the most part.

Also, it maybe expensive but I love the sound. My only complaint is the VW noise from the crosspipe/uppipe. That I could do without, and after running with it for over a year, I'm seriously considering other options (like unequal leangth headers or some jdm crosspipe/uppipe combo). On the upside, the noise only happens once you hit a certain throttle position, and trying to stay out of that noise really keeps my gas milage up. :)

I had the WRX Street TBE ($1,600) on my car initially and then sold that one to Phil and put the Liberty RS Semi-race system ($1,800) on.

I've had zero issues with the system at all. The cross-pipe does give the VW burbble that Ryan spoke of but it doesn't bug me much anymore.

The systems are awesome! The DP is really the biggest part though. The cat-back is still super nice but the DP is definitely the piece that makes the system worth the money.

I've always had really good customer support and service from Trevor (CES) but Josh definitely had a rough go with them. Not sure why they blew him off but they shouldn't have...that's not right.

I have to admit that I didn't pay anything for either of my systems though.
