Up pipe questionare

Post by waldo320 »

Well I have been looking for some cheap horse power while looking at slowboyracing.com last night I started to look into up pipes. They claim that the stock up pipe has catilitct converter on it thus being very restrictive. So what I am saying would a performance up pipe really help my turbo out with already having a 3" down pipe? I am planing to go with the megan racing one http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=5947& Any thoughts ideas on this subject??? :D

All those cars its designed for have cat's in the uppie. Our old leggys do not have a cat nor a EGT on the uppie. Im running that same up and the meghan 3" bell down with no cats currently. The uppie makes the motor quite a bit louder and slightly raspier. Though i did appreciate an increse in low end and a bit faster spool. Nothing i compared on a dyno or anything but i say they are worth it.

During a tranny replacement, I swapped in an HKS uppipe and noticed the same improvements. Low end/torque picked up and a much welcomed turbo noise increased. I would keep it in the must do mod list.

I also have the HKS peice, but have nothing to compare it too because my car isn't road worthy right now. We'll see when the APS exhaust goes on.
