Engine parts. NOS or Aftermarket?

Well. Set up to buy Tristens old 2.2. good timing. my enging is setting up to expire. running weak, missing, poor idle, lack of power.

So. Looking to do a poor mans rebuild on the new 2.2. Bearings gaskets and rings, considering getting the heads done.

What is better? New old stock (read Subaru Components) or aftermarket (read Schmuck's auto supply) ?

Is it that much better to pay the additional amount to get subaru parts? Its a given that they are going to be better quality, but I expect to pay out the nose for parts through the local stealership. are they THAT much better?
