Potential replacment for coolent tank

Post by not8player »

I found this product on eBay that seems like a potential replacement for the legacy plastic coolent tank. Anyone care to throw there 2 cents. Could this work, why and why not?

You're talking about replacing the stock overflow bottle with this? What's wrong with the stock setup?

the stock plastic tank sucks and yes teh nipples are too small. good start though not sure its worth the 60 because you'd have to modify it.

I was thinking of making a replacement that incorporated the coolant tank into the windshield washer fluid tank. Have them occupy the same space, but sectioned off for both fluids.

Also, that would give me heated windshield fluid.....

I see the problem with it...the price! $60? I can buy about 6 JY plastic ones for that. Not to mention there are several people running the metal tanks.

The problem I would see with it is that the Coolant tank has to be at the highest point in the coolant system. (Slightly higher than the turbo. and the windshield washer bottle is slightly lower)

where are you finding good ones in the Junk Yard? i do have doubts on that. We are talking the coolant fill tank here, not the overflow tank up by the radiater and fans..........

Found one of mine at a JY in PA. I think it was called Foreign Auto Parts.

If you can't find one drop Blackbart a line. He's pretty easy to work with (and has cheap parts).
